The foundation

A college built so that nobody would have to leave

Before

North Karnataka saw a bloom in educational institutions only a few years ago. Even then, there was a shortage of good residential schools, and facilities lagged well behind the leading institutes of the bigger cities.

Students who wanted more had to migrate. That was the problem the college was built to solve.

The stone

Sri Sharada Pre-University College was founded by Sri V. R. Patil and Sri S. R. Patil in memory of their mother, the late Smt. Sharada Patil.

The first stone of the foundation was laid on Dusshera, 19 October 2018. The college opened the following year.

The road less travelled

From the beginning the founders were clear about providing the best and safest learning environment available to students of the region.

Being a rural establishment, it had to overcome every challenge of building substantial infrastructure and of drawing qualified, experienced faculty to it — and it has since made significant progress on all fronts.

Students now will not have to migrate to other places in search of quality education.

Academics

Three combinations, and two years to use them

Every combination is taught alongside integrated coaching for NEET, JEE, KCET and NDA — so the board syllabus and the entrance examination are prepared for together, not one after the other.

Taught by 23 senior lecturers across 11 subjects.

The campus

Seven acres at Kidadhal

The campus sits on the Gangavathi road, near the medical college, a few minutes out of Koppal town. It is safe, spacious and centrally placed — and it was built in one piece rather than added to year by year.

Everything a pre-university student needs during two decisive years is inside the gate: the classrooms, four laboratories, the library on the top floor, the auditorium, and the grounds.

What our guests have written

Recorded in the visitors' book of Sri Sharada International School & PU College, Koppal.
  • Very happy to be a part of the celebration with 1300 students, taking part to showcase their talent and culture, their confidence. Sri Sharada School is truly an asset for Koppal district. Wishing the best and greater heights.

    Fouzia Taranum B

    CEO, Zilla Panchayat Koppal

  • Can't believe this school is in Koppal. Can be imagined anywhere — Paris, London, Bangalore, Mumbai. Congrats on the great work in place of birth, Patil Bros. More power to you.

    Ramesh Aravind

    Actor, Kannada Film Industry

  • Was amazed by the school enrolment, including the infrastructure, administration and the teachers' community as well as the students. Thank you for making the Republic Day a memorable one.

    Dr Rajeev

    Paediatrician, Hospete

  • Had a great experience visiting and interacting with the faculty and administrator of Sri Sharada International School. The commitment to education, holistic development, sports and, most importantly, the link with Indian culture and tradition is worth emulating and appreciating. The thinking that has gone into how we should help our kids and students learn and grow is a model to follow. The most important part I encountered was the enthusiasm, vision and quality of the teachers. We, from the administration and representing the education department of the district, will attempt to co-ordinate in the future.

    Rahul R Pandey

    CEO, Zilla Panchayat Koppal

  • This is truly a wonderful place — a ray of hope for all-round development. It is an institution encompassing every facet of a child's holistic growth: a park that tests physical fitness, a space that nurtures the art of communication, and a laboratory that brings English and Mathematics to life in a tangible form. Its splendid library and its ideas are truly worthy of emulation. May its benefits reach everyone, and may this region witness a revolution in welfare, education, and science. Best wishes.

Student life

Two years is not only an examination

Cultural education is part of the curriculum, not an addition to it — and the college competes at district, divisional and state level.
Students with palms joined for the morning prayer at assembly

Rooted

Modern teaching, older ground

While the college runs a modern education system, it also believes in being strongly rooted in its own history and culture. Cultural education is an integral part of the curriculum.

Cultural programmes and observance days involve every student, so that the significance of the region's culture — and of nature in the students' lives — is understood rather than merely announced.

Exposure

Somewhere to test it

SSPU provides opportunity and exposure for students to compete at intra- and inter-level competitions — to participate, to excel, and to develop the confidence that only comes from having done it in front of other people.

Every child is an uncut diamond. Nurturing the talents and skills of young minds, with a focus on all-round development, is central to what the college does.

Academic excellence, and what else it takes

To cope with the speed at which knowledge prospers, today's students must seek to achieve academic excellence. And by academic excellence we do not mean only high grades and superior performance inside the classroom, but a holistic development comprising self-confidence, persistence and leadership.

SSPU promises a high-quality educational experience that empowers students, is global in outlook, and develops the skills and values to deliver their full potential.

Students passing out of SSPU will be ready to take on the world, and to confidently clear the entrance examinations that carry them towards their career goals.
